It was a long time ago, but it seems like it was just yesterday. I still remember with quite a bit of clarity the days my future wife and I spent looking for wedding rings. It seemed funny to some that she actually picked out her own engagement ring and bands, but I wasn’t prepared to spend that kind of money for something she wouldn’t like. $1500 may not seem a lot these days when it comes to wedding rings, but to me at that time it was a good chunk of change. Perhaps, that’s why to this day I’m still reluctant to pick out jewellery for her. I suppose, there probably is quite a bit of latitude in taste though, so long as your heart and intentions are in the right place. I guess, that old habits are a bit hard to break.

Picking out my own band wasn’t that tough though. It wasn’t a perfect match to my finance’s, but it was quite similar and most people would have assumed they were a matched set. It don’t remember the cost of it, which is kind of funny since I remembered hers. It was white gold, which is kind of unique, and I do like distinctive items. It also had some interesting engravings along it which made it even more distinctive. There are no stones or diamonds in it, which was normal for mens rings, but I understand that is changing a bit these days.  Some men’s wedding rings actually have small diamonds in the band. I don’t wear it very often these days, given that I’m not a big fan of jewellery for myself. I did wear it for a number of years.

Every once in a while, I do take it out and think that maybe I should try it on and see if it still fits. Perhaps, one day I’ll start wearing it again.
